The V1+ chip on the all vivo X80 series can support real-time black-light night vision, allowing users to see a clearer and brighter real-time preview in dark environments.
In the X80 series, the main chip is responsible for regular shooting, while in high-intensity computational photography situations such as night video shooting, the self-developed chip V1+ is responsible for lighting, noise reduction, and real-time preview. This distribution collaboration can effectively reduce energy consumption and improves computing efficiency.
V1+ chip takes the algorithms that consume the most energy and requires the most performance, and hardware sizes them into its own platform. Hardware-level algorithm encapsulation can ensure that the operation works and its performance can be maximized.
V1+ finally encapsulated three of the most complex algorithms of 3D real-time stereo night scene denoising, MEMC frame insertion, and AI super segmentation in the current mobile image, realizing the cooperation with the main SoC to greatly activate the hardware efficiency, the data throughput speed can be effectively maintained at about 8GB/s, and the energy efficiency is improved by about 300%, and the power consumption is reduced by about 72%.

The addition of the self-developed chip V1+ enables vivo X80 series to obtain the pattern of “one body and two chips”, which also makes the synergistic interaction between the main chip SoC and the self-developed image chip more possible. In order to achieve the “night vision” effect, vivo has carried out the very closest collaboration and joint innovation with chip manufacturers more than ever.
Take Mediatek Dimensity 9000 as an example. The chip itself has strong basic performance and AI-specific processing capabilities. Combining these features, vivo and Mediatek conducted in-depth cooperation, and finally, the V1+ chip and Dimensity 9000 reached a close imaging collaboration.
The close cooperation between the two chips enables the two chips to play their respective roles, reducing the waste of power consumption while ensuring a better night vision effect and showing technological advantages.
One night photo, using a multi-dimensional night view algorithm
In terms of algorithms, the vivo X80 series has been upgraded with more advanced night view algorithms. For example, the super night scene RAWHDR3.0 algorithm can be moved from the YUV domain to the RAW domain to obtain better brightness and tone performance, so that the night scene processing process is more reasonable and the color adjustment under the night is more detailed.
